Here are my needs:
1. I need to encrypt an Excel file on my main computer (user ID 1)
2. I need to access the file from my laptop, and android phone.
3. I need my wife to be able to access the same file on the main computer as user ID 2.
Can I accomplish this and if so, which BoxCryptor program or programs do I need?

All your needs can be satisfied by BoxCryptor and Dropbox (www.dropbox.com)!
First of all you have to create a Dropbox account (this is needed for the Android Phone because only Dropbox is supported at the moment).
After creating and installing your Dropbox account you have to install BoxCryptor for Windows. We just released our new version 1.2!
Now you can create a new encrypted directory using BoxCryptor on your first computer. With the created virtual drive of BoxCryptor you can simply drag and drop your Excel file into it and BoxCryptor will encrypt your file. After that it is synced to your Dropbox space.
Now you can setup your second computer with the existing Dropbox account and BoxCryptor encrypted folder.
It is also possible to access your files with your Android phone. Here you only have to download BoxCryptor for Android from the Android Market. After typing in your Dropbox account information and the BoxCryptor password you can access your files with your smartphone.

Thanks. This was very helpful. One last question in reference to this. How can my wife as (user #2) access the encrypted file on the main computer? (Should I set up Dropbox on her User #2 side of the computer but use my DropBox ID?

The easiest way is to set up Dropbox on the second computer with the same Dropbox account as the first one.
But it is also possible to set up a second Dropbox account and create a shared folder between those accounts. Then you can set up an encrypted directory within this shared folder so both users can access the encrypted data.
